Jerez de la Frontera (commonly known as Jerez) is a city in the province of Cádiz, in Andalusia (Spain). In extent, it is the largest municipality in the province, the second of Andalusia and the sixth in Spain. It is located in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, 12 km away from the Atlantic Ocean and 85 km from the Strait of Gibraltar.

Jerez is located in a Mediterranean climate area with oceanic influences, characterized by moist mild winters and dry hot summers. The annual average temperature is 17.7°C. Winters are mild, January is the coldest month, with 15.9°C/5.4°C. Summers are very hot, August has the highest average, with 33.1°C/18.4°C and every year exceeding 38°C on several occasions.
